Baby items can be expensive! When you find out your pregnant, its time to start budgeting and one way to do it is save money on baby items.
There are so many ways you can get baby items for cheap or even free! There are many ways to save money on baby items so you can bring your new baby into the world on a comfortable budget. Keep reading to see how I got $200 worth of baby items for free!
Sign Up for Baby Boxes
I signed up for multiple baby boxes actually. There are multiple sites that will send you free boxes full of baby items! The best part is you can sign up for as many as you want. One of the best is Amazon!
I received a box from Amazon and there were many newborn essentials in there as well as coupons to get more money off of other purchases. All I had to do is sign up, add an item to my registry, and wait for my box to come!

They also have subscriptions such as diaper subscriptions which takes the worry out of having to constantly go to the store and buy diapers when you run out! Right now you can get 20% off with Amazon family 30 day free trial when you click this link!
Another great registry is Babylist. They will also send you a baby box after signing up and following a few simple steps.
*As an amazon affiliate I may get paid from qualifying purchases
Approximate Total from baby boxes= $55
Insurance
There are many items that may be free with your insurance including a breast pump for breastfeeding.
All you have to do is call your insurance company and ask what free products they have and how to get them. I was able to get a Lansinoh breast pump for free!
It worked well for me. Usually, they will send you to a website such as www.edgepark.com . If you have government healthcare there are also a lot of benefits for you as well so take the time to call and see what you can get. It’s worth it!

Approximate Total from breast pump= $150
Hospital Resources
This is my favorite way to get free baby items! When you are at the hospital, after giving birth and its time to go home with your bundle of joy, take everything you can! Heck, you technically paid for it! Diapers, wipes, blankets, vaseline, formula, I even got a portable bassinet!
You would be suprised what you are able to take with you from the hospital and I advise you to take what you can get. Medical bills are expensive! You might as well get something out of it!
Even after the baby is born when you visit your pediatrician ask for samples of baby products. They have stacks of samples at the nurses stations just begging to go home with you. I have gotten formula, diaper rash cream, eczema cream, etc.
Approximate Total from hospital = $75

Registries
Here’s a little secret many first time moms do not know. A month before your baby is due, most registries will take up to 20% off the items you selected. My advice, put everything you ever wanted on your registry even if you know other people wont buy it so that if you decide to buy it you will get a discount. I advise registering with multiple sites to receive the free stuff!
My favorite registry is Amazon they literally have everything you will ever need for baby at competitive prices. It’s great in that I could take items from multiple websites and put it on my registry with just one click.
Amazon registry is great for a millennial mom who knows most of the people buying items from her registry need convenience and accessibility. This was a great way for me to save money and let people know exactly what I needed.
Approximate Total from registry savings= $45
The first thing you should do is like Millenni-Mom Facebook page where I upload deals and other important information to save you money as a parent.
Secondly, go to Facebook Marketplace. It has some great deals on baby clothes and other essentials.
I have found onesies for $1 a piece and there were even moms giving clothes and hangers away for free! If you have the Facebook app it is so simple to get on and see what deals are in your area. This is a great way to save money and get items for free!
APPROXIMATE TOTAL from facebook : $65
Samples/ Couponing
I went to brand name sites to sign up for samples and coupons. Huggies will send you packs of diapers for free! Just sign up for their rewards and coupons.
Couponing is not for the weak at heart. It can be very difficult to get in the groove and get big pay offs on baby products but if you can master it, you can pay little to nothing on your much needed essentials. I had a stockpile that lasted for months for little to no money.
APPROXIMATE TOTAL from samples/ Coupons= $75
GRAND TOTAL= $465

Great ideas! I did an Amazon registry for my baby coming in June and was really happy with the little box they sent me. I got one from Target too!
Such great ideas! I wish there were more ways to sign up for free stuff in the UK too! ?
I doubt your timing could be any better! I was just trying to figure out where all the free is haha.
I am curious, how do you know what the hospital is giving away? I’m assuming you’re not just grabbing anything in sight but….will the nurses just give you stuff?
Hey V! The nurses will give you things you need for your baby while your staying in the hospital, such as receiving blankets, diapers, wipes, onesies, etc. But, what people don’t know is when you leave you can take all of the left over items with you! So anything pertaining to the baby that is in your room is fair game or you can ask them if they have anything extra you can take home with you. I hope this clarifies!
