Kids don’t understand the value of playing outside all day anymore. Their activity levels have plummeted. You may be thinking, how can I make my kids move and stop playing video games all day?
When I was a child, I would spend hours outside playing with friends, siblings, or just my imagination until my mom dragged me back in the house. These are different times and we as parents have to use all of our resources to get our kids to exercise and be more active.
One thing that works for my little one is to read books that spark activity. There are so many books out there about exercise that will make your child want to get up and move.
Children relate to characters in books and want to be like them. We have to foster that longing and give them books that foster a healthy lifestyle.
This is my personal top ten children’s books that can inspire your child to be more active.
1. Ready, Set, Run by Lauren Keating
This is a great book to read with your toddler. It will get them excited to move and run as fast as they can. With child obesity rates skyrocketing, this book makes it fun for your children to exercise and also enhances their language and development skills.

Anything which gets our kids moving is positive. These books can help build the motivation and then we parents have to act and build the habit. Once the habit for moving is there, a childs life can be revolutionised.
