How to Keep Your Children Entertained During Summer Vacation and Corona Virus
Schools are closing, daycares are slamming the doors, it’s a difficult time to be a parent. Do not let anxiety get the best of you, here are a few tips and tricks for keeping your toddler entertained and keeping your sanity during summer and the pandemic!
Create a sensory bin– this can include items such as play-doh, slime, shakers, musical instruments, etc.
Create a book nook– find a spot in your house the kids can go and read. Maybe add a bean bag
Play freeze dance– put on your kids favorite song and jam out. Randomly stop the music. When the music stops the players drop.
Play with legos or blocks– build a tower and knock it down time and time again
Continuously swap out toys-Never give your kids all their toys at once. Continuously swap them out so they don’t get bored and they get the most use.
Finger paint– toddlers and kids alike love getting their hands dirty and making a creation of their own
Go Outside– There are so many things to explore in the outside world. You can soak up the sun and your kids can roam the great outdoors.
ABC Days– Pick a letter of the alphabet and do activities around that letter. This is great for kindergarteners.
Make a Collage– use pictures or magazines and
Look at old pictures- remembering the good times is a good way to get through the day and stay positive. Kids love to look at pictures.
Make a waterpark– children love playing in water. Get out the sprinklers and make it a party. Create a slip n slide from tarp, the kids will have fun for hours.
Karaoke– Everyone loves music. Put on kids bop or whatever tunes you like and let your children belt out their favorite song..
Just Dance– The Just Dance games are so much fun! This is a great way for the kids to get exercise and use technology.
Bake– Kids love to create things. Why not create something that is tasty. Make cookies, muffins, or cupcakes. It is easy and delicious to make with your litte one.
Watch movies– There are so many streaming systems now: Netflix, Hulu, Amazon. The list goes on. There is always a new movie to watch. Kids love to look through and pick out their favorite flick!
