Pregnancy is both a very exciting and very stressful time for any mom to be. One of the more exciting aspects for families is guessing the gender of the baby.
There are many old wives tales that claim to be able to predict the gender of the baby.
These include things like if the baby normally rests high or low in the mother’s tummy, the amount of sickness a mom is experiencing, mom’s acne or lack there of etc.
Gender guessing is fun for all members of the family male and female alike and can create quite interesting debates between “team girl” and “team boy.”
When the time comes that baby’s genitalia has developed enough to be picked up on an ultrasound, typically between 18 and 22 weeks, or genetic testing is performed revealing the gender of the baby the family will be able to end the debate!
A way that many people share the gender of their baby is to have a gender reveal party where their family and friends are able to join in on the excitement. There are many ways to reveal the gender of new baby and we will be exploring them below!
A gender reveal balloon is an exciting way to reveal the gender of your baby!
The set up includes a black balloon (made to conceal its contents even in daylight) that will be filled with either pink and gold or blue and gold confetti depending on the gender of your little one!
After the balloon is filled with confetti, it can either be filled with air or helium based on your personal preference. The balloon will be about three feet tall when fully inflated so that a decent sized crowd is able to witness the moment.
To reveal the contents, you and your partner will hold the balloon up in the air and use a sharp object to pop the balloon and watch either the blue or pink confetti come floating out.
The confetti in the kit is slow falling so that there is an opportunity to capture a picture of the special moment. This is a simple yet exciting option for your gender reveal that can accommodate in or out door plans.
The next exciting gender reveal option is to use a powder cannon party popper.
These party poppers are for outdoor use only and the powder shoots about 20 feet in the air. Each kit comes with two blue powder cannons and two pink party cannons and stickers to cover up the small windows on the cannons used to double check the colors before the big day.
These cannons are super popular and add a wow factor to your event. With the 20 foot launch of the powder you will be able to have a large gathering in attendance for the final reveal.
Imagine the countdown 3….2…..1…. and then you and your partner blast blue or pink powder 20 feet into the air solidifying the gender of your baby with your closest friends and family in tow!
Gender reveal option three is the gender reveal baseball!
This option is perfect for sporty families because it directly ties a love for sports with your special day. Maybe your partner played baseball when they were younger or they even actively play now on a team after work.
This is an excellent option to bring a bit of your own personality into the gender reveal idea. The handmade baseballs are larger than normal making them an easier target to hit. The ball is constructed of 3-4mm thick, non-toxic plastic and bright pink or bright blue non-toxic powder.
This will accommodate a moderate crowd as this portion of your gender reveal will take your guests to the great outdoors. Imagine walking out from your amazing party atmosphere and getting all of your guests corralled into a semicircle to watch your partner try their hardest to knock the ball out of the park on your first pitch.
No matter if they strike out or hit a homerun this idea is sure to be a hit!
If baseball isn’t your thing but soccer is then you’re in luck! This soccer ball is sure to “kick start” your gender reveal party with all of the benefits of the baseball idea.
The final gender reveal option for this list is the confetti cannon.
This is actually the option that my husband and I used during our gender reveal and it was absolutely amazing. It is very similar to the powder cannon in that it shoots blue or pink confetti 20 feet into the air, but it all comes down to personal preference.
If you prefer the tumbling and falling of confetti over your crowd above the slow moving cloud of pink or blue powder then this is the option for you! It will also accommodate a moderate to large crowd and is sure to excite and engage your guests as they witness your special occasion.
Whatever you choose be sure that you have fun as well as make your gender reveal ideas special for you and your partner.
We often place so much emphasis on a single detail that we forget to stop and smell the roses, though since you are pregnant you more than likely don’t have to stop because you smell them already.
